
SISTER SHEILA MARIE COOPER, SC, age 87, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on September 16, 2018. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Sister Sheila Marie entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1950, from Resurrection Parish in Brookline, Pittsburgh, PA. Preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Catherine (Buck) Cooper, she is survived by a brother, Robert Brill, Sr., nieces and nephews. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Seton Hill University and taught children of the primary and intermediate grades in the dioceses of Greensburg, Pittsburgh and the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. From 1992-1994, she taught at the Carlow Campus School in Pittsburgh. From 1996 until 2009, Sister Sheila Marie managed the library at Word of God School in Swissvale. While reflecting on her life as a Sister of Charity, at the time of her Golden Jubilee, Sister Sheila Marie said, “I celebrate this Jubilee thanking God for having called me to journey with the Sisters of Charity. I have been challenged to share my gifts and talents, expressing the Presence of God’s love to those with whom I live and to those with whom I minister.”
