
SISTER MARIE VERONICA GOGOLIN, age 77, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on January 29, 2015. A Pittsburgh native, Sister Marie Veronica entered the congregation on September 8, 1955, from Saint John the Baptist Parish. Preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Regina (Ludwik) Gogolin, and a brother Leo, she is survived by a sister, Regina Rudio. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hill University and a master’s degree in early childhood education from Loyola Marymount University. Sister Marie Veronica taught primary level students in schools of the dioceses of the Greensburg, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Tucson and Los Angeles. Her longest tenure was at SS. Peter and Paul School, Tucson, where she taught from1995 until 2008, when she returned to Greensburg to begin her retirement. Sister Marie Veronica once commented, “St. Elizabeth Seton told us, ‘Be children of the Church’ and I believe this is what I’ve become by being a Sister of Charity.”
