
SISTER M. ANTONINE FORBECK, age 92, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on August 12, 2014. Born in Verona, PA, Sister M. Antonine entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1939, from St. Joseph Parish in Verona. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna (Walter) Forbeck, three brothers: Maurice, Eugene, Joseph and two sisters, Katherine Forbeck and Mrs. Mildred (John) Graboski, she is survived by nieces and nephews. She earned a bachelor’s degree in art and sociology from Seton Hill University and taught students in schools of the dioceses of Altoona-Johnstown, Greensburg, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and the Archdioceses of Baltimore, Los Angeles and Washington. She was involved in catechetical ministry at Most Holy Trinity and St. Catherine parishes in Mount Union, PA and the director of religious education at St. Mary Parish in Phoenix, AZ. From 1983 until 1986, she ministered at Saint Columbkille Parish in Imperial, and from 1987 until 1991, Sister M. Antonine served as a social and pastoral minister for the Catholic Church of Preston County, WVA. Between 1991 and 1994, she was involved in religious education at St. John Vianney Parish in Sedona, AZ. After two years of ministry at St. James, Apollo, she served at St. Rita Parish in Connellsville from 1996 until July 2007, when she retired to Caritas Christi. When she reflected on her life as a Sister of Charity, Sister M. Antonine said, “I strongly believe that ‘who you are’ is more important than ‘what you do’ and the depth of one’s relationship with God affects the good of the Body of Christ. As I look back over the years, immense gratitude fills my heart. Deo gratias!”
