
SISTER GRACE KATHRYN BAYLESS, SC, age 77, died in Pittsburgh on November 13, 2013. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Sister Grace Kathryn entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill on August 22, 1966. Preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Grace (Holleran) Bayless, she is survived by two brothers: Roy H., Jr., John A. Bayless and a sister, Barbara Matthews. Prior to entering the congregation from St. Matthew Cathedral Parish in Washington, DC, Sister Grace Kathryn was employed for twelve years with the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Arlington, VA. Her responsibilities included general clerical work and supervision. As a Sister of Charity, her ministry assignments included seven years as a teacher’s aide at DePaul School for Hearing and Speech. She ministered as an administrative assistant at Cathedral School, Greensburg, Seton-LaSalle High School, Brookline, and at Sacred Heart High School, Shadyside. From 1985 until 1990, she was assigned to provide student services at Seton Hill University. She then continued serving students at Oakland Catholic High School, Sacred Heart elementary school in Shadyside and Saint James School, Wilkinsburg. In 1995, Sister Grace Kathryn assumed responsibilities as office manager at the Stephen Foster Center, a position she held until her retirement in 2011. Sister Grace Kathryn continued to work there as a volunteer until her final illness.
