
SISTER ANNA MARIE MILLER, age 88, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on March 19, 2014. A native of Greensburg, Sister Anna Marie entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on January 1, 1946, from Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Parish, Greensburg. Preceded in death by her parents, John P. and Coleta M. (Berkmyre) Miller, a sister, Mary Margaret (Arthur) Smith, and a brother, William P., she is survived by nieces and nephews. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hill University and a master’s degree in education, administration from Duquesne University. Sister Anna Marie was a teacher and an administrator in schools of the Greensburg and Pittsburgh dioceses and in the Archdiocese of Washington. She was principal at Saint James School in Apollo, in the Diocese of Greensburg and principal at Resurrection and Holy Innocents Schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. She also ministered at the Seton Hill Day Care Center. In 1993, Sister Anna Marie began her ministry in the Archives of the Sisters of Charity which led to her ministry as supervisor of environment and interior design during the planning and building of Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the sisters. Gifted and selfless, Sister Anna Marie said of her vocation, “My religious life has brought me peace and happiness. I have been given the opportunity to serve both the community and the Church in carrying Christ to all whom we are called to serve.”
