The Brookline Seton Family has been busy praying for and helping neighbors in their Pittsburgh neighborhood. The group was scheduled to provide and serve the meal for the Wednesday Table ministry during April. Wednesday Table is a meal service housed in and coordinated by the Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church on Brookline Boulevard.  Most, if not all, of the various churches in Brookline participate in providing this meal to anyone who comes. A short bible study precedes the meal. All who are hungry or are lonely are welcome.

This important ministry is needed more than ever due to an unstable economy and resulting diminished incomes for many families, not to mention the isolation we must endure during the coronavirus pandemic. The pastor at St. Mark’s, Reverend Marsha, and her team of helpers, have provided guidelines to ensure adherence to social distancing while providing a needed meal.

While a hot meal and fellowship had previously been the norm, during this unusual time, this time Seton Family provided sandwiches, fruit, snacks, and a beverage in separate bags for the guests to pick up and take home. They prepared 50 such meals and dropped them off curbside. A significant number of people were already there waiting for the meals when they arrived. It was gratifying to be able to help in this small way. Mother Seton was there blessing their efforts.

The Seton Family members have committed to providing the meal again on May 27. Their commitment to helping others is an inspiration to all of us to remember those who are suffering economic hardship because of the pandemic.  May God continue to prosper their good work.
