Assembly of the Whole, Weaving Unstoppable Charity

Members, associates, archivists, communicators, and guests of the 14 congregations of the Sisters of Charity Federation gathered in Chicago, IL, June 13-16, for the first-ever Assembly of the Whole. Federation Executive Director Sister Grace Hartzog welcomed the 550 participants before the opening ritual on Thursday, June 13.
The theme for the assembly was “Weaving Unstoppable Charity.” This monumental gathering featured speakers who shared reflections that deepened relationships and helped to define the vision of unstoppable charity for the future. Speakers addressed issues of social and ecological justice, particularly for those living in poverty and on the margins.
Attendees also experienced unity by viewing a video of the history of the Federation as well as a compilation of inspiring ministry photos and video clips that gave a glimpse of the generosity and compassion extended by the 2650 Federation members over the years.
The event was a moving and thought-provoking time to consider what congregations have accomplished over the years, and how to move forward together, weaving unstoppable charity. The assembly ended with a Mass on Sunday, June 16.
