
SISTER M. CLARISITA WOLK, age 95, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on August 16, 2013. Born in Calumet, PA, Sister M. Clarisita entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1936, from Saint Raymond of the Mountains Parish in Donegal, PA. Preceded in death by parents, John and Agnes (Shifko) Wolk, three sisters: Mrs. Rose (Joseph) Fisher, Mrs. Margaret (Donald) Harkcom and Mrs. Pauline (Edward) Spodobalski, she is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Jean (William) Callaghan and Loretta Wolk, and nieces and nephews. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hill University and a master’s degree in education from Duquesne University. Sister M. Clarisita taught children of the intermediate level in diocesan schools in Greensburg, Phoenix and Pittsburgh. She was principal of the former Saint John the Baptist School, Pittsburgh from 1965 until 1968. Upon retirement from the classroom, Sister M. Clarisita was named a staff member at Assumption Hall, the sisters’ former retirement home where she worked in the creation and production of crafts, as well as in the community garden during the summer. Creative and hardworking, Sister M. Clarisita believed, as did Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, “Without prayer, I should be of little service.”
