In the tradition of the Catholic Church, the word “Jubilee” is used to designate an anniversary year. A special reverence continues to be held for milestone anniversaries of religious life as they signify a strong vocation and commitment of giving one’s life to serve God and others.

Sister Marie Clare Farabaugh

Sister Marie Clare entered the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill on September 8, 1941, from Saint Leo Parish in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hill University and taught students in schools of the Greensburg, Pittsburgh, and Altoona-Johnstown Dioceses. After earning a certificate in recreational activities from Penn State University in 1977, she began a 22-year tenure as the activities director for elderly persons at Kane Hospital and Kane Regional Center in Glen Hazel. In 1999, the year of her retirement, Sister Marie Clare received the “Manifesting the Kingdom Award” for her for her ministries of teaching and service to the elderly. She continued to volunteer at Kane Regional Center and Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity until 2011. From 1988-2011, Sister resided at Saint Stephen Convent and was an active volunteer for Saint Stephen School and Parish. Sister Marie Clare then moved to Caritas Christi where she has found joy in providing care and companionship to her fellow sisters and the residents of the Elizabeth Seton Memory Care Center.
